We read 2 Sam 4 today. Ish-bosheth, son of Saul was assassinated. Political turmoil ensued. What is one to do?

Integrity Above All. 2 Sam 4 emphasizes the importance of maintaining integrity even in chaotic and uncertain times. It is crucial to uphold moral principles and seeking God’s justice. When times get tough, the more we stick to principles. It is during difficult times that the character is seen.

Trusting God’s Justice. We are reminded of God’s justice and retribution. From the previous chapter, Joab murdered Abner to avenge his brother’s death. He took things into his own hands. He did not wait for God. Imagine if David had BOTH Abner and Joan to assist him in the beginning of his reign as king of Israel. Alas, that was not to be.

There are times when our principles are challenged. Can we just do it this on time? Are they (our principles) really matter that much? We need to stand our ground. In the frenzy of chaos and mounting pressure, we let our values guide our actions and decisions. How many times did you attempt to slap someone to the following Wednesday? How many times did you resist the urge to just throw your arms in the air and walk away? You do lah, I give up. Try not to react. Think. Consider carefully. Then respond. Keep calm.
